Car Filters

Every car needs various filters to keep it functioning properly. Just as their name suggests – a car filter’s job is to remove contaminants from various systems.

At Levin Tire, we can check and replace any of the filters in your vehicle, including:

  • Air Filters
  • Cabin Air Filters
  • Fuel Filters
  • Oil Filters

Having these filters replaced is one of the easiest ways to keep your car running smoothly. Over time, your filters become contaminated and can no longer do their job. See below for more information on each filter’s primary function and our recommended replacement guidelines. Be sure to check your owner’s manual for your vehicle manufacture’s recommendations as well.

Air Filters

Fuel needs oxygen to burn in order to provide the explosive force that powers your engine. When your air filter is working properly, it filters dust and debris from entering the intake and combustion chambers of your vehicle. However, if it gets clogged, that material can restrict air flow, putting serious strain on your engine.

Replacement: 6,000 miles or less, depending on your driving distance. This should be checked during every oil change.

Cabin Air Filters

Many vehicles today have cabin air filters as part of the A/C and heating system. This filter's job is to filter dust, allergens and other particles from entering your cabin. It also protects vital components of your heating and A/C system from damage.

Replacement: Every 15,000 miles, and inspected at least once a year.

Fuel Filters

Your fuel filter is a filter in the fuel line that screens out dirt, rust and other debris from the fuel. This helps fuel burn efficiently, and it also prevents contaminants from damaging the fuel pump and injectors.

Replacement: Every 24,000 miles, and inspected every year.

Oil Filters

An oil change is the one of the most basic and important things you can do to extend the life of your engine. Every time you get an oil change, your oil filter should also be replaced. The oil filter is designed to remove contaminants from engine oil. It helps extend the life of the oil by keeping it cleaner for a longer period of time.

Replacement: Every 3,000 miles with every oil change.

We want to make sure your car is running at its absolute best! If you’ve been experiencing trouble starting your car, shakiness, or if something just doesn’t feel quite right, your filters may be to blame.
