If your vehicle has an automatic transmission, it requires transmission fluid to operate properly. That fluid, also known as ATF, prevents the transmission from running too hot, especially when you’re towing a trailer, climbing steep hills, and operating the vehicle under other severe driving conditions. (If you put your car or truck through more stress than is normal, we recommend having the vehicle inspected and serviced to prevent the transmission from overheating.)

Like any other automotive fluid, transmission fluid will break down and become less effective as it ages. However, unlike engine oil, transmission fluid must be flushed from your vehicle using a specially designed machine. Here's an inside look:

Have us check your fluid and filter every 30,000 miles. Newer vehicles that use Dexron III ATF are protected up to 100,000 miles. Your transmission is the most complex system in your vehicle, and repairing or replacing it can be expensive. That’s why it pays to take good care of it. Please let us know if we can help.
