Signs You May Need to Replace Your Brakes
The automotive pros at Levin Tire and auto repair service can diagnose any problems you may be having with your brakes, and then complete the brake repair or brake replacement as necessary. If you notice any of the following symptoms and you can drive your car safely, pull into the nearest Levin Tire location and we’ll take care of you as quickly as possible.
Reduced response - As a driver, there’s no scarier sensation than applying the brakes and feeling the pedal push to the floor with no resistance. The cause of the problem is some type of leak: either an air leak in the brake hose or a fluid leak. If your brakes fail, slow the vehicle as quickly as possible by applying the emergency brake, or by carefully driving in the grass, gravel or rumble strips on the shoulder of the road. Call for assistance immediately and do not drive the vehicle until the brake problem has been diagnosed and repaired by a qualified brake service technician. Find the Levin Tire and Service Center location nearest you.
Pulling - If your vehicle pulls or veers to one side of the road, you might assume that your car needs a wheel alignment, but pulling can also be a symptom of brake trouble. It could mean your brake linings are wearing unevenly or that your brake fluid has been contaminated with a foreign substance and you need immediate brake service.
Vibration - Have you noticed a vibration or pulsating sensation when you apply the brakes? In many cases that could be a sign of warped rotors.
Noise - A loud, metallic sound is never good when it comes to your brakes. It may mean your brake pads need to be turned, or that they’ve been worn down beyond repair and should be replaced.
